Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better: Biomimicry in Action
How did a diving bird revolutionize commuter trains? How have sharks proven that usefulness is often skin-deep? Why did some irritating Burdock burrs launch a scientific movement? Since the evolution of mankind brought us to grunting and pointing and furrowing our brows, we have been observing nature and trying to uncover its secrets. The progression of technology beyond sticks and stones has enabled us to keep a different kind of fire burning, and biomimicry is poised to be the solution to many of the challenges facing Earth today. Join Professor Heather Canavan and soon-to-be UNM graduate Alex Maciejewski for a journey through air, land, and sea as they reveal all that humans can achieve when they take a page from Nature’s playbook.
